Sauvons ce qu’il reste de notre humanité des décombres de Gaza
Les citoyens et citoyennes, membres de la société guyanaise, et leurs représentants politiques, associatifs, syndicaux et religieux, unis dans toute leur diversité, appellent le Président de la République française à user de tout son pouvoir pour un cessez-le-feu immédiat et durable à Gaza.
Depuis cinq longs mois, en riposte à l’attaque terrible du Hamas, les bombardements et les opérations terrestres sur Gaza ont fait plus de 32 000 morts, dont plus de 15 000 enfants. Dans une population déplacée, terrorisée et qui souffre de la faim, près de 100 000 blessés n’ont pas accès aux soins. À ce jour, 1,4 million de réfugiés se trouvent concentrés à Rafah, ils sont à leur tour en péril de mort, dans un état de détresse absolue et sans aucune échappatoire possible. Une catastrophe humanitaire est en cours et empire de jour en jour. Ceci est le résultat de décisions politiques et militaires du gouvernement israélien, soutenu par ses alliés.
Des centaines de milliers d’êtres humains sont en danger de mort. Il y va de notre propre conscience, de notre humanité. Ni notre cœur ni notre raison ne peuvent se taire. Nous appelons urgemment nos responsables politiques à agir dans les plus brefs délais en notre nom pour mettre un terme à cette tragédie. Il nous est impossible de nous en rendre complices, par notre silence ou notre inaction.
A travers cette guerre, c’est l’avenir de tous qui est en jeu, à l’échelle globale. Ne pas réagir devant la tuerie des Palestinien-ne-s à Gaza et en Cisjordanie, c’est d’avance acquiescer au pire à venir.
Monsieur le Président de la République française,
La société civile de Guyane manifeste pour un cessez-le feu immédiat et durable, comme tant d’autres en Martinique, en Guadeloupe, à La Réunion, en France et à travers le monde,
Par la présente nous vous demandons, en tant que Président de la République française, de mettre tout en œuvre pour que soient appliquées les conclusions de la Cour Internationale de Justice telles que promulguées le 26 janvier dernier à La Haye, lesquelles ordonnent à l’État d’Israël de :
- prendre « des mesures conservatoires visant à protéger le peuple palestinien d’un préjudice irréparable » ;
- faire en sorte que tout « risque de génocide » soit écarté ;
- laisser entrer l’aide humanitaire dans Gaza ;
- remettre à l’ONU un compte-rendu un mois plus tard
Le non respect patent des décisions de la C.I.J prouve, s’il en était encore besoin, que l’État d’Israël piétine le droit international.
Nous ajoutons combien nous semblent nécessaires :
- la mise en place d’enquêtes diligentées par les instances internationales ;
- la suspension par la France de tout accord commercial, notamment la vente ou l’acheminement d’armes ou d’éléments d’armes.
Même si la perspective prochaine d’une trêve humanitaire, sans cesse ravivée et repoussée, représente une avancée sensible pour la population de Gaza, elle ne saurait garantir la mise en sécurité pérenne de cette population qui ne peut être atteinte que par un cessez-le-feu définitif et la mise en œuvre d’une solution politique rétablissant les droits du peuple palestinien.
Monsieur le Président de la République française,
la Guyane attend de vous que vous mettiez tout en œuvre pour un cessez-le-feu immédiat et durable en Palestine.

of the Guyanese people, in all its diversity, to demand the establishment of an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Palestine.
Too much blood has been spilled in Gaza, leaving thousands dead, missing, crippled for life, orphaned, behind the carpets of bombs launched indiscriminately since October 2023…
With each passing day, the situation in the enclave of GAZA worsens, and the prospects of inescapable famine and deadly infectious diseases become an implacable reality.
The countdown to the disappearance of a people has begun, and it’s high time we put an end to it.

Saving what’s left of our humanity from the rubble of Gaza
The citizens of French Guiana and their political, associative, trade union and religious representatives, united in all their diversity, call on the President of the French Republic to use all his power to bring about an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
For five long months, in response to Hamas’s terrible attack, bombardments and ground operations in Gaza have claimed more than 32,000 lives, including more than 15,000 children. In a displaced, terrorized and starving population, almost 100,000 wounded have no access to medical care. To date, 1.4 million refugees are concentrated in Rafah, in their turn in mortal danger, in a state of absolute distress and with no possible way out. A humanitarian catastrophe is underway and getting worse by the day. This is the result of political and military decisions by the Israeli government, supported by its allies.
Hundreds of thousands of human beings are in mortal danger. Our own conscience and humanity are at stake. Neither our hearts nor our minds can remain silent. We urgently call on our political leaders to act swiftly on our behalf to put an end to this tragedy. We cannot be complicit by our silence or inaction.
Through this war, the future of everyone is at stake, on a global scale. To fail to react to the killing of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank is to acquiesce in advance to the worst to come.
Mr. President of the French Republic,
Civil society in French Guiana is demonstrating for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, as are so many others in Martinique, Guadeloupe, La Réunion, France and around the world.
We hereby ask you, as President of the French Republic, to do everything in your power to implement the conclusions of the International Court of Justice as promulgated on January 26 in The Hague, which order the State of Israel to :
- take « precautionary measures to protect the Palestinian people from irreparable harm »;
- ensure that any « risk of genocide » is averted;
- allow humanitarian aid into Gaza;
- report back to the UN one month later.
Israel’s blatant disregard for the I.C.J.’s decisions proves, if proof were needed, that it is trampling on international law.
We would like to add how necessary we feel it is to :
- the establishment of investigations by international bodies;
- France to suspend all trade agreements, in particular the sale or shipment of weapons or weapons components.
Even if the prospect of a humanitarian truce, which is constantly being revived and postponed, represents a significant step forward for the population of Gaza, it cannot guarantee the long-term security of this population, which can only be achieved through a definitive ceasefire and the implementation of a political solution restoring the rights of the Palestinian people.
Mr. President of the French Republic,
French Guiana expects you to do everything in your power to bring about an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Palestine.
